While canoeing around Farren Lake, I happened upon this spot where the tree in the centre of the painting was beautifully lit by sunlight, while the trees in the background were still in deep shadow. It was a sublime moment but I didn't have a camera with me at the time. I came back a few times in the next few days, but was never able to get the same view. I'm convinced that perfect view happens only once a year when the angle and position of the sun are perfectly aligned. I tried to create the scene from memory alone.
