Minimalism is a style I’ve always admired. This piece isn’t minimalism, but it leans in that direction. If you’ve seen some of my older work, you’ll know I’ve experimented with that impulse before.

The tricky part is that simplicity isn’t actually simple. The challenge is to make something pared down feel like it still has impact. The initial idea was to reduce everything to four elements: sky, distant trees, the house, and the field. It turned out too basic. The painting needed more air and more depth, so I added gradients and more definition.

It’s also the first time I’ve painted a house in the new style I’ve been working through. I may keep going down that path.

FAQ

Yes, every painting is allowed to properly dry, then is protected with a layer of Gamvar varnish.

It really depends on the subject, the painting style you want, and if I have the time. Feel free to reach out with more details on the contact page and I'll get back to you.

Every painting will specify whether or not there is a frame. If you'd like me to frame a painting for you I am happy to do that. Framing generally costs ~$200 depending on type of wood used and frame size.

If a painting comes framed, the frame is included in the listed price.

At the moment I'm only selling and shipping art in Canada and the US.

At the present time I only sell original works.
